There are two sentiments driving gun sales right now- 1) the fear that taxes or regulations will make guns more costly or unavailable in the future.2) the fear that the government will collapse and civil society will follow.It's worth mentioning that there has been a persistent run on ammunition for at least 6 months- it just isn't available because of hoarding.
Market forces in action - we'd see the same in the UK if not for regulation.
