If there was a world championship of debt, Britain would win


This is one competition that the Brits can win. In the OECD league table of household debt, the UK comes first.

If would be nice to see these statistics corrected for demographics, for example by showing household debt per expected number of years left for payback. Nations with relatively young populations have much better chances of eventually paying back the debt.

I guess the differences between industrialized nations is not very big, though.
