From a marble mansion to a east end slum

Baroness Uddin wants to have a foot in both worlds.

From today's Times.....

A LABOUR baroness who lives in low-cost social housing has a palatial family holiday mansion overseas. Baroness Uddin lives in a three-bedroom house in Wapping, east London, which is heavily subsidised because it is intended for people who cannot afford to buy property in the area. However, for almost a decade her husband Komar has also owned the mansion in Bangladesh, which is decorated with Italian marble and bears a crest similar to that of the House of Lords on its gates.

Uddin is already being investigated by her housing association in London and the Lords authorities over her purchase of a property in Maidstone, Kent. The Sunday Times revealed two weeks ago that Uddin had claimed that the flat in Maidstone, which is apparently empty, was her main home so that she would be entitled to expenses intended for peers living outside the capital

Because there is nothing too good for the workers...

I wouldn't classify Wapping as an "east end slum". The Lamborghini-density is comparable to Mayfair, and it's fairly expensive to rent here. Definitely more than on the Isle of Dogs.
