The dow in real terms

There are a couple of charts flying about looking at the Dow, adjusted for inflation. Here is one such chart from Capital Chronicle. The key point appears to be that the current Dow crash is, in historical terms, one of the biggest.

I regard the crash as having started in 2000, not 2007 as Chart of the Day labels it, so to me it's in its 10th year, with maybe 5 - 10 years to go, ignoring bear market rallies. And adjusted for CPI, the '66 - '82 drop was still far worse than what's happened so far this time.

"Gender as a social contract?" Uh, what? It doesn't even make sense as a concept. As far as the article goes, Uh?!?! Anyone who thinks girls are less competitive than boys is clearly measuring competitiveness the wrong way. Of course, I'd expect both boys and girls from single-sex schools to be more aggressive - there is a plethora of research that confirms the tendency.

P.S. Lloyds Group was up 4% on the day following its effective nationalisation over the weekend.
