Dostoevsky on the UK economy

"People, even the wicked, are much more naive and simple-minded than we suppose. And we ourselves are, too"

The Brothers Karamazov

(I am now looking for some Dave Brent quotes to complement Dostoevsky. Any suggestions?)

Have you read much Dostoyevsky? He is the only author I've ever read who adequately captures the gravity of the current crisis. It should be required background for anyone thinking of taking a position of responsibility with respect to financial regulation.

Great titles too...

Poor Folk; The Insulted and Humiliated; Crime and Punishment; The Idiot; The Gambler...

I take consolation from this.
